How do you imbue images and objects with value? How does culture imbue value?
Each week artists bring academia and creativity together to show you their unique added value.
They will show you alternate views and possibilities by
sharing their research process, insights, visions, experiments, media and journey.
engaging your body and mind in their experience of unknowns.

How do you read objects and situations. How can you build a value chain from intangibles?
Each week Industry Insiders lead workshops on key skills for the future: Connoisseurship, Protocol, Influence, Sales, Storytelling, Hallmarks, Finance, Branding.
Subject insiders also introduce us to the foundational ideas underpinning their work and the key influences affecting their work today. As well, a range of academics provide a broad stroke introduction to history and civilisation as relates to place.

Weekly workshops explore materials and techniques with hands on production and site visits guided by arts professionals.
Artisans and crafts people lead the Community Project teaching skills in production as well as their own discipline.

Local and regional expert guided excursions as relate to key global or regional developments.

Residents are invited to present their work and ideas, attend screenings and other live evening entertainments. They learn how to present, debate, critique and be critiqued.

A complementary programme of exercise, cooking, language, household management and hospitality.

Our immersion and inhabitation projects take us into the body by adopting postures or ideas and making them relevant to our selves. In this way we can confront ideas in a non threatening way and learn to discuss them from a stand point of curiosity. What does something feel like - a decision, a space, a way of being?
Embodied cognition is where the environment, our entire body and motor systems work in conjunction with the brain to convey and construct meaning.
The body, mind and environment construct knowledge in tandem. Embodied knowledge resides in the body and is gained via the body.
Embodied perception encompasses the changes that result when our bodily states change.
Embodied perspective may also include perceptions based on previously experienced states of being.

Commedia dell’Arte is a way to inhabit a personality, an identity, a physicality, a status. It offers a non-threatening examination of ourselves. What we should be, what we could be, what we are.
Over the course of the program, you will undertake several workshops to inform your own character development under the guidance of a renowned theatre director.
Tangible learning: personae, spontaneous use of imagination. Learn how to cooperate in a team setting - how to collaborate and improvise in a safe space, be playful, think on your feet.
Intangible learning: Confidence, feeling liberated, bonding with the group, enjoyment.

Every discipline has a vocabulary. Masters in their discipline develop their own vocabulary.
Understanding vocabulary is key to understanding many facets of life : culture, politics, networks, events.
We focus on vocabulary that is spoken, unspoken, visual and cultural.

You will live a seasonally infused life and menu, seeing incredible diversity and quality.
You will learn how to transform a household through culinary experience.
You will become an interdependent community of people and learn how local identities, livelihoods and family histories are intertwined.

Body work is included in our program through the work of artists, dancers, choreographers, performers.
Workshops will invite you to fully ‘inhabit’ your own body — gain awareness of what your posture says about you — do you emanate confidence or timidity?
Tangible learning: Ways of walking, gesturing, awareness of posture, reading body language in others and gaining awareness and acceptance of your own.
Get comfortable in your own skin.
Intangible learning: Gain confidence, self-acceptance, macro spatial awareness.
Rhythm-based exercise takes place several times a week:
Tai Chi : to improve your immune system, boost heart health, and help your brain.
regional specialty sports put you in touch with the environment & nature.
Yoga or Run with a local : are optional community dimensions only for those who practice regularly.
Partnered dance, such as Tango.

Most significantly you will be part of a family of likeminded people from around the world.

Each program realises a project for a community organisation under the expert guidance of master trades and crafts people. Community programmes are specific to their communities. You can donate to materials and other production costs below.⫤ ⊨

SIX WEEKS
1. The first week is spent becoming local and committing.
2,3,4. Middle weeks are concerned with process, perspectives, contexts and global ecology.
5. The community project week comprising multiple tasks and a 40+ hour contribution.
6. Final presentations, finalising projects, a general wrapping up and saying goodbye.

No two days are the same although they are similar in format: eating, living and exploring together. Creative days vary in pace as their discipline and content requires. And, across the day and the week, you are equally likely to find yourself in a gallery, in nature, a private home, an atelier, a theatre or lecture hall. Why do we live together?
Many of us now live incognito. We don't have to confront people at the same level of intimacy as community demands. Our programme is only a few weeks so living together is one way to experience some of the living requirements imposed on close quarter living.
